Munich Transport

The public transport system in Munich is made up of S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams and buses. There are varying types of tickets (which must be validated before travel or a subsequent fine could follow) from short ride to daily passes, the later being the best value. There are 3 day and weekly passes (Isarcard and Grüne Karte) for those who foresee a longer stay.

The National train services are very efficient, with connections to all of the main German cities and many European cities such as Prague, Vienna and Zurich. The Hauptbahnhof (main train station) is situated west of Marienplatz, the historic centre of Munich.
